We will all be valued members of a safe, caring, and happy community in which respect for oneself, for others and for our environment influences our daily actions and interactions. We will encourage curiosity and an enquiring mind and provide high quality learning and support to enable all pupils to acquire knowledge, skills and qualifications in readiness for further education, training and employment in line with their aspirations and interests. We will support pupils to develop the confidence, courage and resilience to aspire to excellence and to always seek to make good moral choices, even when it is difficult. We will act with compassion and determination to overcome difficulties, eradicate inequalities and to celebrate the differences and unique talents and abilities of all members of our community.
Mr M. Haimes
Today four of our students attended a KS3 inter-school debate hosted by St Sampson's High School. Ten teams battled it out against each other. First, they competed in a prepared motion on the banning of cars from central St Peter Port. This was then followed by an unprepared motion on whether smart phones should be banned for under 16s. Both of our LBHS teams demonstrated their skillful speech making and their tenacity during open questions. Kai and Jacques placed third overall and Amelie and Alicia took first place. Well done to our debaters. We run a debate club every Monday if any students are inspired to develop their debating skills.
